The book is a fast read - even with its length, and it's interesting to see how the main characters change during the war - some for good, others become worse. At the beginning, all of the main characters believe the North & Lincoln are wrong to oppose secession, and boast of their superiority/5(59).

house divided is an overly long pages- book about a family, 2 sisters and 3 brothers, living through the civil war in and around richmond for the most part. the family story and dynamic was interesting, wealthy gentry dealing with their downfall, how they viewed slavery, and what they took for granted.
